Vengeance is fast-paced fiction short story about a man who finds himself in the throes of grief and the desire to see justice served for his murdered son. The man, Marvin, is at the crossroads of an internal battle that is waging on the inside of him. Should he forgive his son’s murderer, or exact his own form of justice on the man who cut his son’s life short?
The story has the symbolism of a Wm. Paul Young book, and the dark imagery of a Dekker novel; although, I would have loved if the spiritual imagery were a little more veiled. The pace of the book was not bad – for a short story, there was ample detail and character development. In a longer novel, more backstory would have amped up the emotion and taken the reader into Marvin’s darkness.
Overall, I think this is a great first start for such a young writer. I look forward to reading other material from Clark as he releases it.
